Highland Elementary Evacuated Briefly

Water cooler built into the wall was producing smoke.

Highland Elementary School was evacuated briefly this afternoon after a water cooler inside the school started producing smoke.

According to Capt. Oscar Garcia, fire and rescue personnel were called to the school around 1:38 p.m. for reports of a fire. However, they did not find any fire, but instead a water cooler producing smoke.

The firefighters isolated the water cooler, but Garcia said they are not sure why the cooler started producing smoke yet.
