An Adamstown couple racing to the hospital Friday morning so the wife could give birth didn’t quite make it.

Ann Noland gave birth to her baby about 6 a.m. June 6 on southbound Interstate 270 near Middlebrook Road in the Germantown area, reports WTOP.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Pete Piringer reported on his Twitter account that the mother and the newborn are well.

Piringer said the dad, John Noland, delivered the baby, with an assist from EMS crews. Both mom and baby boy, Atticus, were then taken to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, reports Montgomery Community Media.

A hospital spokesperson said the infant weighs 9 lbs. 7 oz. and is 21 inches long.
