Police Blotter: Aug. 16 to Aug. 24

Several burglaries are part of an ongoing investigation.

On Wednesday evening, Montgomery County Police released a summary of major crimes for the week of Aug. 16 to Aug. 25. Here are some of the crimes reported in the Lincoln and King Sectors of the 4th District for that week.

  • Two residential burglaries occurred within hours of each other in the 12600 block of Epping Road on Aug. 24. In both cases, entry was forced and property taken.
  • Two residential burglaries involving forced entry and stolen property occurred in the 3900 block of Weller Road on overnight between Aug. 17 and Aug. 18. 
  • A residential burglary occured on the 12600 block of Farnell Drive at 11:04 a.m. on Aug. 20. However, entry had not been made, and the victim confronted the suspect in the backyard.  

These five burglaries all occurred within a mile of each other. Police spokesperson Angela Cruz and a detective familiar with the case said there was an ongoing and active investigation into these burglaries, but would not give details.

In addition, four other burglaries were recorded in the Lincoln Sector:

  • Between noon on Aug. 21 and 11 p.m. on Aug. 22, property was taken by forced entry at the 12000 block of Kemp Mill Road. 
  • A break-in occurred at the 2100 block of Henderson Avenue on Aug. 17, through unknown entry. It was unclear if anything had been taken.
  • Between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Aug. 19, a residential burglary took place at the 2700 block of Jennings Road. Property was taken.
  • Property was taken through forced entry on Aug. 23 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the 2000 block of Dennis Avenue.
