Police Blotter: Aug. 1-9

Sexual assaults and a strong-armed robbery among crimes reported for the period.

Montgomery County Police have released the latest crime statistics for the Fourth District. Following are crimes reported in the Wheaton area between August 1 and August 9, 2011:

 

Robbery:

  • A strong-armed robbery occurred at Ferrara Drive and Indigo Road on Wednesday, August 3 at 9:21 p.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and took property. Arrested: male, 19, from Wheaton.

 

Burglary:

  • A residential burglary took place in the 1200 block of Mimosa Lane, on August 2 between 2:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Entry was forced and property taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 10500 block of Calumet Drive, between August 1 and August 2. Property was taken but entry was not forced.

 

Attempted Burglary:

  • Residential burglary was attempted in the 1600 block of Hutchinson Lane, on August 3 at 4:17 p.m.  Forced entry was attempted; nothing was taken.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 13700 block of Turnmore Road between August 2 and August 6. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
  • Residential burglary was also attempted in the 800 block of Kerwin Road between August 3 and August 4. Forced entry attempted but was unsuccessful.

 

Sex Offense:

  • A rape took place on August 5, 12:15 a.m. in the 18000 block of Wagon Wheel Court. The suspect assaulted the victim then fled. Suspect: black male, 5’8”.
  • A sexual assault occurred in the 11400 block of Amherst Avenue on August 8. The suspect is known to the victim.
