Police Blotter: Jan. 2-9

The Montgomery County Police have released the latest crime statistics for the Fourth District, from Jan. 2-10. This list is not comprehensive, but rather selects the ones that occurred in or very near Wheaton. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Strong-arm robbery

A strong-arm robbery/assault occurred at Layhill Road and Briggs Road, Wheaton, on Jan. 5 at 11:00 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and removed property.

A strong-arm robbery/assault occurred in the 2300 block of Glenallen Ave, Silver Spring, on Jan. 7 at 10:45 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and removed property. Suspects: Two black males, both 6’, 160-170 lbs.

A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 2300 block of Glenmont Circle, Wheaton, on Jan. 7 at 12:33 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. One of the suspects is a black male, 5’7”, 130-145 lbs., with dreadlocks.

Residential burglary

An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 11700 block of Highview Avenue, Silver Spring, on Jan. 7 at 3:15 a.m. The suspect attempted to force entry and was arrested. Arrested: male, 24, from Rockville.

Three related residential burglaries were reported on the same night. A
suspect was arrested and charged with all three incidents. Arrested: male 21, from Takoma Park.

• In the 11100 block of Markwood Drive on Jan. 6 at 8:00 p.m. No forced entry; property taken.
• In the 2100 block of Prichard Road on Jan. 6 between 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. No forced entry; property taken.
• In the 11000 block of Bucknell Drive on Jan. 6 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. No forced entry; property taken.

Carjacking

An armed carjacking occurred in the 3900 block of McMahon Road, Wheaton, on Jan. 10 at 9:45 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained a vehicle. Suspect: black male, 25-35, 5’8” to 5’10”, thin build, mustache, wearing a black puffy coat, a black ski mask.

Armed robbery

An armed robbery occurred at Reedie Drive and Ladd Street, Wheaton, on Jan. 5 at 1:15 p.m.

An armed robbery occurred at the Wheaton BP, 2201 University Boulevard West, Wheaton, on Jan. 7 at 8:45 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. Suspect: black male, 6’2”-6’4”, 190-220 lbs., short hair.

Aggravated assault

An aggravated assault occurred in a county parking lot at 11230 Grandview Avenue, Wheaton, on Jan. 9 at 1:15 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and was arrested. Arrested: male, 22, from Gaithersburg.

Purse snatching

A purse snatching occurred on Blueridge Avenue near Elkin Street, Wheaton, on Jan. 2 at 9:00 p.m. The suspect ran up behind the victim, grabbed her purse and fled. Suspect: black male, 18-22, 6’ to 6’2”, 160-180 lbs. crew cut.
