Police Food Drive to Benefit Wheaton Charity

The blood/food drive will take place at the new public safety headquarters in Gaithersburg on Friday.

Contributions to Friday's food drive, organized by Montgomery County police, will go to the Mid-County United Ministries (MUM) Captain Joseph A. Mattingly Food Pantry in Wheaton.

Montgomery County police are also celebrating the department's 90 years of service in the county with a community blood drive, with a goal of 90 pints of blood.

Among those who will attend the blood/food drive are Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Police Chief Tom Manger, Montgomery County Fire/Rescue Chief Richard Bowers, Montgomery County Sheriff Darren Popkin and State’s Attorney John McCarthy.

Mid-County United Ministries will also be holding its second annual fundraiser Friday night, with featured speaker Rev. Timothy Warner, the county executive's community partnerships liaison with African American and faith communities.
