The National Insurance Crime Bureau estimates that 50,000 air bags are stolen every year—that's about a $50 million value, according to a State Farm fact sheet on air bag theft. The market for stolen air bags is driven by the need to replace a car's air bag if it deploys in a crash, State Farm wrote.
