Teens Charged With Stashing Stolen Gun at School

Two 17-year-olds have been charged with burglary on Wednesday, and a third with the concealment of a stolen handgun.

Montgomery County police have arrested three 17-year-old boys in connection with a Wednesday burglary on Bluhill Road and with possessing a handgun on the grounds of .

According to a police statement, shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a burglary report in the 13000 block of Bluhill Road.

Two boys were seen approaching the house earlier in the day, police reported. After knocking on the front door, one of the teens stood in the driveway while the second went to the rear of the house, according to a press release.

"A short time later, the second subject re-joined the first, and both left carrying a laptop bag," the press release stated. The residents of the buglarized home told officers that a handgun was missing.

Dectectives learned that the stolen handgun was hidden on  property. A third teen was shown the location of the firearm after it had been hidden, police said.

Upon learning the gun's location, detectives went to retrieve it but found that the firearm was gone. Detectives allege that a third teen, identified as Jackson Kessah Julius of the 3600 block of Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring, took the firearm.

Detectives went to Wheaton High School to locate Julius. Upon seeing the detectives, Julius fled school grounds and ran through an adjacent neighborhood, police said. While running, police said they saw Julius throw unknown objects from his backpack. K9 officers responded to the area and located Julius. A firearm-detection K9 located several parts of the disassembled stolen handgun in various locations.

Julius was charged as an adult with several firearms-related charges and resisting arrest, police said. 

Police also arrested Rico Miguel Rogers of the 12800 block of Epping Terrace in Silver Spring and Sharief Ahmaad Grant of the 12200 block of Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring. Rogers and Grant were charged as adults with several burglary-related charges and several firearms-related charges including possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and possession of a handgun by a minor.
