Truck Fire on University Boulevard Shuts Down Traffic Friday Morning

No injuries reported.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the corner of Georgia Avenue and University Boulevard Friday morning shortly after 9 a.m.

On the scene, firefighters found a pickup truck with an attached trailer with smoke coming from the engine compartment. The driver of the vehicle had already left the truck and was calling for it to be towed, according Capt. Oscar Garcia.

The engine comparment caught on fire, but as the owner had not recently fixed the car, the fire department is investigating the fire as a mechanical incident.
