Vocal Coach Sentenced to Prison for Sexual Abuse

Timothy M. Ballard was found guilty of abusing a 13-year-old male student.

A Gaithersburg vocal coach found guilty of child sex abuse charges in November was sentenced Monday to 18 months in prison for the crime, reports WJLA TV.

Timothy M. Ballard, 48, was hired to vocally train a 13-year-old boy. The abuse happened in the basement of Ballard’s home in 2008, when the boy was in eighth grade and reportedly questioning his own sexual identity, Patch earlier reported.

Ballard was tried on these claims last year, but the jury was unable to return a verdict, forcing Montgomery County Circuit Judge Michael D. Mason to declare a mistrial in April, The Gazette reported.
