Wheaton Crime: Attempted Armed Robbery at Glenmont Metro Station

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Montgomery County Police have released the latest crime statistics for the Fourth District, from August 13-22. This list is not comprehensive, but rather selects incidents that occurred in or very near Wheaton.

Attempted Armed Robbery

An attempted armed robbery occurred just north of the Glenmont Metro, 12600 Georgia Avenue, Glenmont on Aug. 15 at 9:51 p.m.  The suspects displayed a weapon and unsuccessfully attempted to remove property from the victim.

Suspect: African-American male, 13-15, 5’, 90 lbs  

Residential Burglaries

- In the 11600 block of Georgia Avenue on Aug. 20 between 12:01 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.  Forced entry; property taken.

- In the 11600 block of Georgia Avenue between Aug. 19 at 11:00 p.m. and Aug. 20 at 8:30 p.m.  Attempted forced entry.  Nothing taken. 

- In the 2200 block of Fleeter Place on Aug. 20 between 12:01 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Attempted forced entry.  Nothing taken.

The county has enough money for traffic cameras. Why not cameras by Metro to photograph the real criminals.
