Wheaton Man Convicted for Gang-Related Killing

Prosecutors said the man had ties to MS-13, a violent Salvadoran gang.

A Wheaton man was convicted Tuesday of gang-related crimes that included the murder of a man whose body was found in Montgomery County three years ago, NBC Washington reported.

Noe Machado-Erazo, 30, of Wheaton, was found guilty of conspiracy to participate in racketeering activity, murder in aid of racketeering and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.

According to evidence from the trial, Machado-Erazo took part in the killing of Felipe Enriquez, 25, whose body was found in March 2010 in Montgomery County, NBC Washington reported.

Two other gang members, from Brentwood and Washington, DC, were convicted the same day for crimes that included the 2008 stabbing death of a 14-year-old boy near the Columbia Heights Metro station in Washington, DC.

The convictions come after a 35-count federal indictment in 2011 against 10 men and one woman whom prosecutors said had strong ties to MS-13, a violent Salvadoran gang, The Washington Post reported.
