Wheaton Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested

The assault took place in a neighborhood near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Weller Road in Wheaton.

Montgomery County police arrested a Wheaton man Tuesday night in a reported sexual assault in the area of Connecticut Avenue and Weller Road.

Trent Elijah Curtis, 22, of the 2300 block of Georgian Woods Place, has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and possession of marijuana and drug related paraphernalia that was found on him, according to a statement from police. Curtis was released on bond and is awaiting a Feb. 14 court date.

Before the assault, Fourth District officers had observed a man following a woman into a neighborhood in the area of Connecticut Avenue and Weller Road at approximately 7:45 p.m., according to police.

A short time later, officers received a 911 call for a sexual assault in the area.

According to police, the victim said that the suspect had approached her from behind as she walked down the street and touched her inappropriately before fleeing on foot. Curtis was located a short distance away and was arrested after the victim positively identified him.
