Community Meeting on Wheaton Recreation Center Still on for Tonight

Plans for the historic Wheaton Youth Center to co-exist with a new recreation-library facility will be discussed Feb. 12.

The community meeting on the Wheaton Youth Center will take place tonight as scheduled despited the incoming snowstorm. In an email, organizers said they plan to finish promptly by 8 p.m. "so we can all get home and hunker down before the storm."

The meeting takes place at Saddlebrook Facility, 12751 Layhill Road.

Staff will make a brief presentation, and then allow time for questions and discussion.

The Planning Department invites you to learn about the Planning Board’s recommendations for historic designation of the Wheaton Youth Center, 11711 Georgia Avenue, and the opportunity for the historic building to co-exist with the planned new recreation-library facility.
