Costco Gas Station Exception Hearing Postponed 'Until Further Notice'

The exception hearing was moved back three times before the latest postponement.

While plans for a are moving forward, the question of a gas station has been taken off the table, at least temporarily.

The Office of the Hearing Examiner for Montgomery County confirmed today that the special exception hearing that would rule on whether or not a gas station could be allowed in the area had been cancelled for its latest suggested date in November. There are no plans for rescheduling at this time.

Patricia Harris, of Holland and Knight, who is representing Costco for the special exception, had not returned multiple phone calls by time of publication.

They probably hope we'll all forget about it. Since no one will be at Kenmont in the winter months there would be less focus on the negatives this would bring to the community.Or, my cynical being thinks that the poor placement of the Hearing Notice coupled with a good chance for snowfall covering the details would make it less likely anyone would attend. Sorry :(

I don't understand this comment at all. Please elaborate how winter can influence a county hearing.

Tounge in cheek. The sign placement has been an issue, at least with me. The grass had grown up over the phone number and I called the office responsible for placing the sign and they moved it to where it's even harder to read. My personal feeling is the county council really wants this gas station and they would stoop to any level to ensure that it passes and if that entails "controlling" the turnout, I wouldnt put it past them. So, waiting until winter when there is a chance of snow that could accumulate and cover the data on the exemption hearing notice would serve them well.
