Council Agenda: Relocating Glenmont Fire Station 18

The Montgomery County Council will hold a public hearing on a resolution to relocate Fire Station 18 to the old Glenmont Elementary School site.

Fire Station 18 must vacate its current location at the intersection of Randolph Road and Georgia Avenue before construction on the new state road interchange begins.

But where will it move to?

The will hold a public hearing Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Rockville on a resolution that would change the proposed relocation site.

The original plan approved by Council , a property along Georgia Avenue across from Glenallan Avenue.

However, in a June 21 letter to the Council, County Executive Isiah Leggett wrote that "the WMATA Triangle property has become an unsuitable location for the fire station because of encroachment for other public uses. Therefore, I am recommending that the station be relocated to the old Glenmont Elementary School site."
