Councilmembers Call for Wheaton Public Safety Task Force

Councilmembers Hans Riemer and Nancy Navarro co-wrote a letter to County Executive Isiah Leggett requesting improvements to public safety in Wheaton.

 

The day before the Montgomery County Council , Councilmember Hans Riemer and Council Vice President Nancy Navarro quietly submitted a letter to the county executive requesting that the Montgomery County Police Department establish a Wheaton Public Safety Task Force.

"I believe that a task force that could engage the small business community, residents, the police department, and all the stakeholders in trying to improve perceptions and realities is a key part," Riemer told the Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee at its April 10 meeting.

"I've heard a lot of people say 'I would spend more time in Wheaton, and I would spend more money in Wheaton if I felt safer,'" he added.
