O’Malley Gives RGIII Jersey to Knesset Member from Silver Spring

The governor presented the Washington Redskins quarterback's jersey during Israel trip.

In a stroke of football diplomacy, Gov. Martin O'Malley presented a jersey of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III to Rabbi Dov Lipman while on a trade mission in Israel this week. Lipman, a Silver Spring native, is a member of Israel's parliament.

“Rabbi, this is from your home place," O'Malley said as he handed over the jersey in a video of the exchange posted on YouTube. "This is who everybody roots for in Silver Spring, Maryland. And this year, everybody was fired up by RGIII.”

“So I just want to tell you, governor, that I was at the National Prayer Breakfast last year,” Lipman said. “And RGIII was the guest speaker. And before I even saw him play, before I knew he’d be a Redskin, he talked about God and about prayer. And we talked afterwards for a while, and we have a relationship. And I looked all around Israel for a jersey of his.”

Robert Griffin III is so popular that more of his No. 10 jerseys were sold in the NFL last fiscal year than any jersey in the league's history, according to ESPN.

Uh-oh-uh-oh, Gov, your 1%-ism is peeking through! You built your career on pretending to be from Baltimore so shouldn't that have been a Ravens shirt? I guess you just can't take the Chevy Chase out of the boy, especially when he thinks he's gonna be Prez.

Huh? Illiterate much, Katie? The rabbi is from Silver Spring, not Baltimore. Hence the Redskins jersey instead of a Baltimore jersey. And I have no idea if the Gov. is a bigger fan of the skins or ravens...who on earth could possible care? After a cursory search, it appears O'Malley is a bigger fan of the Ravens while Brown is a bigger Skins fan. Apparently this is "news" in your little world, so figured I'd fill you in. http://www.capitalgazette.com/news/government/o-malley-brown-conflicted-over-ravens-redskins/article_2b432b96-6a5a-519d-9483-9f9318fd96c9.html?mode=jqm

How sad but not surprising. With all of the more important news going on in this state, this is all the Patch could come up with! Increased taxes and fees, liberal progressive socialist conventions in Copenhagen, and the latest, the Baltimore City Jail. Run by the State of Maryland, you know one of the governor's more important jobs. We find that for the past four years, it's been run by the inmates and some alledged very corrupt corrections officers. For FOUR YEARS the correction officers have been smuggling booze, drugs, cell phones and sex into the jail for profit, and all O'Malley could do was ban the death penalty? The ring leader inside the jail has five children with four of the correction officers, he buys them nice things with his ill-gotten gains, so the federal indictments read. Let's hope for the sake of the free press, the Patch will do an indepth story on this FEDERAL INVESTIGATION, or do you suppose Eric Holder will just make it all go away? Can't wait to read the progressive tag team spin on this.

You see Katie, they want you to be distracted by this ridiculous story, otherwise you might actually see what the other hand is doing. Check out the story about the Baltimore City Jail, which is run by the State of Maryland. The big federal investigation that brought federal indictments. Corruption thats been going on for FOUR YEARS under O'Malley's nose.
