Reader Poll: Commuting at Wheaton Station

How has recent escalator outages and delays affected your commute.

Normally we take this time on Fridays to update readers on what to expect on the Metro this weekend and in the upcoming week, but we realize that many of our readers have stories of their own about the status of the Wheaton and Glenmont stations. 

In recent weeks, multiple escalator outages have forced riders to either walk up or down, or use the elevator. Has this affected your morning or evening commute? Have you changed anything in your commute recently? Let us know in the comments.

In the meantime, here's the report for delays, single-tracking and other items about the Red line and beyond.

  • No single tracking on the Red Line for Friday and Saturday, but on Monday through Thursday of next week, Red will be single-tracking between New York Ave. and Rhode Island Ave. from 10:00 p.m. to close. The line between Grosvenor and Twinbrook will also be single-tracking from 9:30 p.m. to close during these dates, and on the Orange and Blue from Foggy Bottom to Courthouse and Arlington Cemetery, respectively.
  • The Metro will open at 5 a.m. on Sunday for runners in the Cherry Blossom 10-mile run.
