What's on the Agenda for the Wheaton Urban District Advisory Committee?

Find out what will be discussed at the advisory committee's March 12 meeting in Wheaton.

What is the status of Wheaton redevelopment?

That's one of the questions on the table at Tuesday's meeting of the committee set up to advise Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett about issues pertaining to the Wheaton Urban District.

The March 12 meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Mid-County Regional Services Center at 2424 Reedie Drive in Wheaton.

Other items on the agenda include the following:

  • a report from Ana Lopez van Balen, the Regional Services Center director
  • reports from WUDAC's Economic and Design subcommittees
  • a report from Montgomery County Council staff
  • a redevelopment update from Pete McGinnity of the county's Wheaton Redevelopment Program
  • a time for the public to voice community concerns

Follow more updates from the Wheaton Urban District Advisory Commmittee on its blog. WUDAC meets the second Tuesday of the month.

Please post the meeting summary as soon as you can. Your site is the only place where we get these summaries. The County site does not post them for 6 months. I am not sure why, but it seems like the County staff are lazy to update the site with the draft and final summaries. I wish they have a distribution list for their correspondence.

Anton - I agree summaries should be more timely, but the County staff was cut dramatically a couple of years ago. I'm not sure it's that the staff is "lazy", I think the staff may be "understaffed". Perhaps the County should be looking at staff levels prior to giving 13% raises.

Thanks Henriot St. Gerard. I was excited when you posted the January draft minutes and thought that you will continue to do that. Unfortunately, when I checked for the draft February minutes, they were never posted after the meeting. Do you plan to update draft minutes shortly after your meetings?
Does WRAC have anything similar?
Henriot St. Gerard March 12, 2013 at 05:09 pm
The February minutes should be up this week once they are approved at our meeting tonight.
I cannot speak for how and what WRAC is doing unfortunately because I do not know. Sorry.

Thanks again. Approved minutes take a whole month before posting since they need approval, will you post draft minutes (recap) shortly after the meeting, similar to what you did for the January meeting?

Thanks for the memories of our favorite park, Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. The old wooden rollerRead More coaster was also our very favorite. There was also another favorite, much tamer Love Boat ride that went through a dark tunnel and then went up an incline and you got wet at the end of the ride. Visiting the Hershey Chocolate Factory was also a must on our trip to Hershey. We grew up in nearby York, PA.

Oooh, that Love Boat ride sounds really fun! We didn't see that one. We definitely had quite anRead More experience there!

Going to Hershey Park had been a yearly event when we took our own three children to Hershey Park.Read More They loved it there, too. All three of our children are now married and have taken their children to Hershey Park. We have also been to Hershey, PA to the famous Hershey Car Show, where we purchased a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron convertible. I enjoyed reading your article.

Cori, you have no idea how much this helps. I just found out some of the details about the Geo BowlRead More and it sounds like a much better situation for my kiddo than I was originally imagining. I'm going to reach out to the team tonight. I imagine that they will be receptive to my worries. I'm hoping that all of the worst case scenarios are in my head and only in my head, which is probably likely. :) Maybe I'll see you at the Geo Bowl!

Priming is key. You can also show him video on similar bowls. Pretend at home with family afterRead More finding out more or less how it will go the day of event. Encourage and prime/prep. How wonderful that he has come so far!

Great tips! And actually, thank you very much for the reminder that he has come really far. You'reRead More so right. And I'm so proud of him!

Yes and yes to everything you say here. The reality of parenthood is simultaneously far far worseRead More and far far better than the fantasy could possibly be. The truth about living with multiple pairs of giant stinky man shoes should be enough to make most of us think twice about filling our houses with male offspring. And when did I sign up to help a hormonal 15 yr old write an impossible essay on a book he's not yet read, due in 3 days? It's lucky we love them so much is all I can say.
