WMATA Holds Budget Hearing at First Baptist Church of Wheaton

Meeting will discuss proposed changes to Metrobus and Metrorail.

Metro is holding its Montgomery County hearing on services changes proposed in its budget at the . Some of the service changes proposed includes longer wait times for the Metrorail on the weekend and the elimination of some bus lines.

The open house portion begins at 5:30 p.m., with a town hall format starting at 6 p.m., and a public hearing at 6:30 p.m.

While extending the time between headways - as much as 25 minutes on late Sunday evenings - will affect the eastern portion of the Red line, the proposals for bus cut backs will also affect Montgomery County

  • The E6 line, from the Friendship Heights station to Knollwood Retirement Home in Chevy Chase, would be eliminated, and the M4 line would be extended out to Knollwood.
  • The K1 line, from Takoma Station, around Walter Reed and back, would also be eliminated.
  • The 70 and 71 lines, which start at Silver Spring station, would only go as far as Archives, and not further south to L'Enfant and Waterfront.
