Apartments Above Safeway for Rent: Guess How Much?

The 17-story apartment building is anticipated to open in early fall.

As work on the Safeway building in Wheaton enters its final months, leasing has begun for the apartments stacked above the grocery store, located just outside the Wheaton Metro station.

When finished, the 17-story apartment building, named The Exchange at Wheaton Station, will feature a Safeway on the ground floor, with a Starbucks, Bergmann's dry cleaners and Suntrust bank inside.

Apartment Showcase lists prices for the 486 residential units available. Efficiencies, also known as studio apartments, range from $1,460 to $1,560 per month. One-bedroom apartments are priced between $1,610 and $1,870; two-bedroom apartments are going for $2,000 to $2,555.

Some of the features highlighted on the website include a pet-friendly policy, a washer and dryer in each apartment, a 17th floor terrace and lounge, a fitness center and a swimming pool.

The pre-leasing office is located at 2304 Price Avenue in Wheaton.
