Montgomery County's Changing Demographics: Meeting the Needs of the Growing Number of Seniors

May is “Older Americans Month” and the County theme this year is “Older Americans: Connecting the Community,” paying homage to the many ways in which seniors bring inspiration and continuity to the fabric of Montgomery County (more than 170,000 residents aged 60 and above).

The number of seniors (those over 65) in the County increased by 86% from 1980 (49,700) to 2000 (92,500) and is projected to grow an additional 65% from 2000 to 2020 (152,648).

This talk will focus on Seniors and their families - the challenges and opportunities ahead.  Also with discussion about young people, immigrants, and wealth distribution in the county.
