Kennedy Student Wins Art Prize

Natithorn Bhusri received the Jane E. Lawton Memorial Award in the 31st annual Congressional Art Competition.

 

Natithorn Bhusri, a senior at , won the Jane E. Lawton Memorial Award for his charcoal and chalk drawing titled, "First Wave."

Bhusri was one of 15 winners announced by Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen in the 31st annual Congressional Art Competition for high school students on April 30 at VisArts in Rockville.

More than 260 students from 25 schools within the Eighth Congressional District participated in the competition. Bhusri's artwork was one of 95 entries selected for the exhibition on display at VisArts through May 17.

Abby Ingersoll Gilbertson is Bhusri's art instructor at Kennedy.

The Jane E. Lawton Memorial Award is named for the late Delegate Lawton and was established in 2008. Bhusri's artwork will hang in Congressman Van Hollen’s Rockville office for one year.
