Montgomery County Public Schools' fair cancelled Saturday
Cancellation prompted by Hurricane Irene
The Montgomery County Public Schools' system has cancelled the 4th annual Back-to-School Fair scheduled for Saturday in Rockville.
The fair was scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. However, officials cancelled it in wake of concerns about emergency weather conditions related to Hurricane Irene, which is predicted to bring heavy rains and winds to the area Saturday.
Backpacks and school supplies for needy families, which were to be distributed at the fair, will now be given out -- while supplies last -- on Monday, August 29 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive, in Rockville.
