The photographs by Hannah Garelick and Sasha Gerecht will be exhibited during the FotoWeek DC festival.

Two eighth-grade students from on Georgia Avenue received high honors in the fourth annual FotoWeek DC Youth Photo Contest.

At the October 30 awards ceremony, Hannah Garelick of Silver Spring won second place in the People category for her photograph, “Fancy Shoes.” Sasha Gerecht of Kensington won second place in the School Life category for “Red, White and Blue.”

Over 688 students entered the contest, and Garelick and Gerecht were two of 30 finalists. Thirty area schools participated, and The Siena School was one of only three schools that had multiple finalists.

The photographs will be exhibited at FotoWeek Central at 18th and L Street, NW, Washington, D.C. during the FotoWeek DC festival from November 5-12. After the festival ends, the photographs can be viewed online at www.fotoweekdc.org and washingtonpost.com.
