Beat the Thursday Heat Wave

The Wheaton Glenmont Pool is open weekdays from 1 to 8 p.m., but Montgomery County's fire chief recommends staying indoors during the heat wave.

Relaxing in the cold water at the neighborhood pool may seem like the most attractive option to beat the heat, as Thursday temperatures rise to 100 throughout the D.C. region.

But staying indoors is a safer option, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.

Maryland's AIRNow program has declared a Code Orange air quality forecast for the D.C. area, recommending that even healthy adults and children limit time outdoors.
