Report: Senate Approves $150M Metro Package

The money will go to improving safety on the train system, WAMU reported.

Metro is set to get another big chunk of cash to continue with the ongoing system maintenance that has closed stations and caused delays on the weekends, WAMU 88.5 reports

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved $150 million, part of a 10-year, $1.5 billion package for the transit system, according to WAMU. The focus of the repairs is safety, with a fatal crash in 2009 at Fort Totten station in Washington, DC highlighting Metro's need for safer trains.
