It doesn't sound like this review has been updated as it should have been since the sudden closure in Jan.. As far as I'm aware, there is and was no dance floor and I wouldn't call it a place for singles. It hasn't even been reopen long enough to be a "Reader's Choice for 2012". When we went after it finally reopened, there were still problems, but what food we did have was good. It appears they may have rushed the opening and it wasn't advertised well. A lot of their liquor stock had been sold off so they didn't have the variety they had before. The new management seemed to outnumber the wait staff and customers. The menu was also much more limited and didn't include some of our favorites which were hard to find elsewhere like the Welsh Rarebit. We were also frustrated that they were out of what was suppose to be on the menu. The same thing happened before the closure. Its not a way to bring back or keep customers. I was also concerned by the state of the bathrooms. I see this is a prime indication of good or bad management. They were in a terrible state right after the pervious sale as though no one was in charge of them for a while. For some reason during this last visit there was an emergency battery operated big flashlight and a Coleman style lantern on and both sitting on the sink. Paper towel roll was wet and full of soap.. New hand dryer didn't work. The bathroom also stank of fresh paint. Not appetizing!! Hopefully it will get back to its original old self soon.

What she [Jane Shafritz] said! There's nothing like the Royal Mile Pub. It can be a successful business and is so valuable to those who value Wheaton's often-declared "diversity" and "eclectic" nature. I would hate to see this unique and beloved establishment crumble when it really could be a thriving business. And although I like Limerick, the two are entirely different and the neighborhood feel of Royal Mile is more my style.
I THOUGHT THE ROYAL MILE PUB CLOSED RECENTLY. I HOPE IT WILL RE-OPEN SOON. IT HAPPENS TO BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE EATING PLACES IN ALL OF WHEATON AND I HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR YEARS. PLEASE, PLEASE BRING IT BACK. WE NEED THIS PLACE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
A LOYAL CUSTOMER,
JANE E. SHAFRITZ
As a Scottish gal -- this place is perfect. The only thing that would make it better for me is to have more accessible TV viewing for sporting events (I'm not talking big flat screen or a sports bar type feel)
The staff has always been super friendly and fun, and I can't say enough about the food. awesome and a new weekly stop for me and the friends.
I love the Royal Mile. Their burgers are the best around, I always enjoy their beer selection, and the place is just 'divey' enough for the castle theme they have going on inside to work.

I love the fact that the Royal Mile is really a pub. The food, drink, feel, atmosphere, decor and entertainment all reminds one of a small and friendly Scottish pub. the Brittish Embassy once commented that "the Royal Mile is the next best thing to a fine meal back home." the new owners are maintaining that dedication to a true pub experience. Come by and enjoy this unique experience as much as I have! Cheers, Slainte!
