Pepco Extends Offer for Free Trees

More than 1,000 free trees are available to Pepco customers in an effort to help residents conserve energy and reduce their electricity bills.

Pepco has extended its offer of free trees to its customers from Nov. 6 to Nov. 21. As part of the utility company’s Energy-Saving Tree Program in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, 1,300 free trees are still up for grabs on a first-come, first-serve basis in an effort to promote energy conservation and help customers save on their energy bills through the strategic planting of trees. Customers in the Maryland and Washington D.C. area can choose from a selection of six tree species: redbud, crape myrtle, river birch, honey locust, red maple, and Northern red oak. According to Pepco, strategically planting trees can help lower energy bills by up to 15 to 30 percent. Customers can reserve a maximum of two trees per household. Trees …
