Wheaton Crime: Aggravated Assault Near Mall Food Court

Montgomery County police have released the latest crime report for the Fourth District, from Dec. 3-11. The list published here is not comprehensive, but rather selects incidents that occurred in or near Wheaton.  An aggravated assault occurred near the food court at Westfield Wheaton Mall, Wheaton, on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m.  The suspect is known to the victim.   A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 10800 block of Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10:49 p.m.  The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. Arrests Made in Gang-Related Assault in Silver Spring

Police said the arrests are part of an investigation involving a street gang known as "Little R" or "La Raza."

Montgomery County police arrested three men from Aspen Hill, Rockville and Glenmont earlier this month as part of an investigation into a series of assaults and robberies in the Wheaton and Good Hope areas. According to a statement from police, the investigation involves a street gang known as "Little R" or "La Raza." On Nov. 4, Montgomery County police responded to the 1400 block of Silo Way in the Good Hope area of Silver Spring, where the victim, a 22-year-old man from Rockville, was attending a party. What had started as a verbal dispute over beer escalated into an assault, and multiple people struck the victim's head repeatedly with broken glass bottles.  He sustained serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, …

Wheaton Crime: Armed Assault in Aspen Hill Home

The Montgomery County Police have released the latest crime statistics for the Fourth District, from July 30 to Aug. 7. This list is not comprehensive, but rather selects incidents that occurred in or very near Wheaton. See Also: Map: Montgomery County Crimes Near You A residential burglary/assault occurred in the 4600 block of Aspen Hill Road, Aspen Hill, on Aug. 3 at 11:42 p.m.  The suspect, who is known to the victim, entered the house without permission.  She entered the victim’s room where she pulled a gun from her purse and stated that she was going to shoot the victim in the head.  The victim was able to grab the gun from the suspect’s hand and hand it off to an uninvolved resident of the house. Victim Robbed, Assaulted In Aspen Hill

Police hadn't yet made arrests following the Monday evening street robbery.

A victim was assaulted by three men Monday evening during a street robbery in the 14200 block of Piccadilly Road in Aspen Hill, according to Montgomery County Police. The victim’s shoes and a book bag with a laptop were stolen, according to police. Police described the assault as minor, and the victim wasn’t transported to the hospital after being evaluated by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. Shortly after 8 p.m., no arrests had been made and police were still searching for the men. They described the suspects as three black males.

Residential burglary A residential garage burglary occurred in the 1500 block of Ladd Street, Silver Spring, on Nov. 17 at 2:55 p.m. Unforced entry; property taken. Attempted residential burglary An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 11300 block of Galt Avenue, Silver Spring, on Nov. 19 at 11:40 p.m. Arrested: male, 23, from Silver Spring. Person Injured in Aspen Hill Assault

The victim was transported to an area hospital.

Update, Oct. 24, 3:55 p.m.: According to Officer Hirsch of the Montgomery County Police Force, the 35-year-old victim sustained an 8-inch cut in what is believed to be an alcohol-related incident involving a known party. Original post, Oct. 22, 7:14 p.m.: A person was transported to an area hospital after a first-degree assault in the 3100 block of Hewitt Avenue in Aspen Hill Saturday evening, said a Montgomery County police spokesperson. Police responded to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, police said. No additional details are available at this time.

Metro Bus Driver Stabbed Outside Wheaton Metro Station

A female passenger tried to intervene, even blocking a punch aimed at her.

Update, 11:11 a.m.: A 28-year-old Metro bus driver was stabbed in his midsection and left arm shortly after midnight outside the Wheaton Metro Station, Montgomery County police said in a media release.  Police have arrested Victor McEachin, 52, of Aspen Hill, who was a passenger on the bus. He has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and possession of marijuana. Police found the marijuana and a knife when they caught up with the suspect a few blocks away from the Metro station.  The confrontation between McEachin and the bus driver began at the Silver Spring Metro Station, police said. A passenger complained that McEachin was touching himself inappropriately, and the bus driver asked McEachin to stop his behavior. …

Yesterday, Montgomery County Police released the latest crime statistics for the Fourth District, from Aug. 29 through Sept. 6. Robbery: Suspect: black male, 6’-6’2”, wearing a beige hat and a black jacket with red and black sleeves, and beige pants.
