Part of Georgia Avenue in Wheaton Closed Sunday
A detour will divert drivers away from work at the Safeway construction site on Feb. 3.
If you are driving northbound along Georgia Avenue through Wheaton this Sunday, you may need to take a detour. The stretch of road between Reedie Drive and Price Avenue will be closed on Feb. 3 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Southbound Georgia Avenue will remain open. Through traffic approaching Wheaton along Georgia Avenue from the south will be directed to follow this detour route: Left turn on Veirs Mill Road, right turn on University Boulevard, left turn on Grandview Avenue, right turn on Blueridge Avenue and finally a left turn back onto Georgia Avenue.
