Montgomery County's largest food distribution center is collecting Thanksgiving turkeys until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Manna Food Center—Montgomery County's largest food distribution center—is lending a helping hand to more than 300 families in need during Thanksgiving week. The Gaithersburg-based food center will provide 70 pounds of emergency food assistance and donated turkeys to the community, Manna announced Wednesday. Community members can drop off turkey donations to Manna—located at 9311 Gaither Rd., Gaithersburg—before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, and it will be passed out to a family in need. “The community is instrumental in serving our clients throughout the holiday season and during the rest of the year," Manna Executive Director Minerva Delgado said in a statement. The Oct. 21 festival will spotlight the cultures of four of Montgomery County's largest immigrant populations--from China, India, El Salvador and Ethiopia.
The World of Montgomery Festival returns to Wheaton in a few weeks—but with new life breathed into it. In addition to the ethnic food, music and dance performances from years past, the free festival will highlight the cultures of four large immigrant populations in Montgomery County. The festival will take place Sunday, Oct. 21, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the large parking lot at the intersection of Grandview Avenue and Reedie Drive in Wheaton. The county has partnered with the Kid International Discovery Museum to create an International Village, with four large tents representing China, India, El Salvador and Ethiopia.
