Update, 12:05 p.m. A 55-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl were shot shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday after two men forced their way into an Aspen Hill home and demanded money, according to Montgomery County police. The suspects fled, and both victims were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, police said in a statement. Police believe there is an association between the two men and the residents. Graduate student Dayvon Maurice Green took his life after firing on his roommates, killing one.
Editor's note: Early Tuesday morning, two University of Maryland students were left dead and another injured in a shooting on 36th Ave. in College Park. Police say that the gunman, identified as 23-year-old graduate student Dayvon Maurice Green, set several fires around his house before shooting two of his roommates when they came outside. One—Stephen Alex Rane, 22, of Silver Spring—was later pronounced dead, while another suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Green then turned the gun on himself, according to police. A man started several fires at his home before shooting two roommates and taking his own life, police said.
A Silver Spring student is one of two University of Maryland students found dead, and another injured, after what police identified as a murder-suicide Tuesday morning in College Park. According to Prince George’s County Police Department spokesperson Julie Parker, officers responded to the 8700 block of 36th Ave. just before 1 a.m. When they arrived, they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds and a small fire showing from the side of a house. Police believe the suspect, Dayvon Maurice Green, 23, of College Park, started several small fires in the basement and backyard of the home, which he shared with two other men. A 21-year-old man was shot in the eye. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Update, 6:20 p.m. Montgomery County police have arrested a suspect in the North Gate Park shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon in Aspen Hill. The unidentified 21-year-old victim, who was shot in the eye, remains in grave condition, police said. Damacrius Damone Grays, 19, of the 4400 block of Fishermans Court in Olney, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, according to a police statement released Wednesday afternoon. Police arrested Grays at approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Olney area without incident. Police continue to investigate the incident. Montgomery County police say reports of a shooting came in before midnight Sunday, WUSA 9 reported.
Montgomery County police are on the lookout for a robbery suspect following a late Saturday shooting in Wheaton, WUSA 9 reported. Police say reports of a shooting on the 3000 block of McMahon Road came in before midnight Sunday, according to the report, and one victim was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. A search for the suspect was suspended Sunday at 3 a.m. with no word on when it would resume.
