I cannot speak for how and what WRAC is doing unfortunately because I do not know. Sorry.

ReplyThere is a Trader Joe's off Columbia Pike in Silver Spring as well if we're talking about having one in Wheaton only. The Columbia Pike location is obviously too far from Del Marcado of course.

ReplyPepco just released its "internal assessment" of their efforts in restoring power and to no surprise, they think they did a great job. The continued incompetence on the part of the company needs to stop and this is why parading with petitions and setting up forums does nothing unless there is substance behind this outrage.

On the article B.F. Saul Withdraws Wheaton Redevelopment Plan

Just as a point of clarification, the community and stakeholders spent years doing studies, discussing, and going over what a redeveloped wheaton would look like.
I can see how one views this so-called measured approach by the council as a breath of fresh air or well needed if they dont have all the information before them.
The council ignored Wheaton while the community pushed forward with plans and studies. the second, they decide to get involved, they pretty much press the restart button and ignore all the work put into by the community.
Im not here being bitter cause at some point we have to move on. At the same time though, lets not give all this credit to the council because they pretty much just came in and passed a plan to fit their desires and scrapped all the years of work put in by people in and around Wheaton.

On the article Navarro, Riemer Delay Vote for Wheaton Revitalization Working Group

Not here to defend the Council's decision to create this group because I see your point and its well taken.
I would say that the slight difference between this "working group" and WRAC and WUDAC is that members of the latter are appointed by the County Executive while the working group will be made up of people appointed by the Council.
There is still that gray area of overlap and so forth and I will definitely concede that to you. I think delaying the vote was a good idea because it seemed to be rush and more thought needs to be put into what exactly the group will do and accomplish

On the article Report: Customers to Pay Pepco, BGE for Lost Storm Income

Replyso in pepco's warped logic it wasnt residents who were inconvenienced by power outage it was the company. in turn, we all must pay cause god forbid pepco was unable to generate revenue during the storm because the storm was somehow our fault and pepco had to clean up our mess for wanting a "severe" storm to hit us.

This is a huge step backwards in the goal of redevelopment.
