ReplyDefinitely agree with the ban at bus stops - my daughter gags in the bus shelters when she is busing to work. You would think that smokers would be more thoughtful regarding intrusion on others air space in an enclosed space but there you have it. Is the proposed exemption for golf courses because it is generally wealthier people who golf? Or what? Would like to know the rationale for the exemption.

ReplyLove the idea of being abloe to renew an extra time. Some homework assignments require longer periods, especially for literature courses.

ReplyI agree with those who comment on it being about congestion delays rather than wimpiness. I grew up in deep snow country where people did get on with business as usual with light snowfall, but the population density was much less than here. Here, even one accident paralyzes things for hours - and there will always be more than one serious collision of some sort. Too many people end up being trapped in their vehicles, stuck on delayed metro trains, getting into work late, getting back home at midnight if at all while their family life is in disarray, and being frazzled, hungry, and exhausted the next day . I've experienced all of those things on several occasions while cursing the decision-makers living close to work who can easily make it to the office but have not okayed telecommuting or something similar for the rest of us. Alternative work arrangements or approval of unrequested leave make for a much more sensible approach to dealing with these trying circumstances.

ReplyI like this idea. We will stay away from the desserts and be more likely to partake in the first place with the lower price.

ReplyIt is a predictable outcome of privatization of a monopoly. It's all about profits rather than responsible and adequate capital planning. Would such a rate increase be approved in the public sector in these still rather precarious times?

ReplyCan't wait. The mall has needed a good coffee shop since Starbiucks closed its tiny in-mall store. I'm really looking forward to this, and to Costco - no need for alonger drive to the ones in Gaithersburg or Greenbelt.

For JAG; Derwood is a wonderful, safe and convenient community for everyone. We rented and bought there from 1998-2005 before having to relocate for work. We loved our neighborhood and the schools. We still miss it.

ReplyIt's a combination. Gotcha moments can be manipulated/reduced to pithy sound bites, often devoid of the broader discussion in which they were delivered. Yet,yet.....they can be very reflective of a candidate's views. The broader principle is whether the candidates will try to the best of their ability to represent all of their constituents,at least where possible. It is not possible on "for or against" issues such as a woman's right to make decisions about her health and reproductive situation. In those cases candidates must be able to firmly defend which side they are on.

We never used the park in Wheaton until the fee was dropped. We have two small dogs and the annual fee seemed excessive. We now go at least once/week to help one of our dogs become more sociable in a "free range" environment.
