Runner-up goes to The Limerick Pub in Wheaton, a write-in vote “for fine food, wine and music,” as commenter Charles L. Garris put it.

A fixture in downtown Silver Spring for more than 75 years, Tastee Diner hasn’t always been fixed in the same spot. It opened in 1935 on Georgia Avenue, but when redevelopment came, it moved to its current location on Cameron Street in 2000.

Tastee Diner is open 24 hours a day, and if you want to order an omelet or a stack of hot cakes at 10 p.m., you can go right ahead. The menu also offers classic sandwiches and subs, and entrees range from pasta and chicken to steak and seafood.

Tastee Diner has additional locations in Bethesda and Laurel.
