Get Out: July 29 through July 31

Music, dancing, puppets, running, sharks... Yes, sharks.

Why Go? You can have a “low-key” and relaxing evening soothed by the sounds of Project Natale. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to the Wheaton Triangle and let the band do the rest, while you rest.

Why Go? Despite the fact that isn’t poking his (or her?) head through the Discovery Building this year, Shark Week is nigh. So just to make sure that the week (or maybe a famished Great White) doesn’t sneak up on you, come “bone up” at this informative show’s advanced screening.

When/Where: July 29, 6 to 9 p.m., 1 Bethesda Metro Ctr, Bethesda

Why Go? You can let the rhythms of Retrospect Band guide your feet, or just sit down and enjoy the show at this open outdoor dance. Parking under the Hyatt is discounted to $2 from 6 to 9 p.m., with validation at the dance.

When/Where: July 29, 10 a.m., 30, 31 (1 p.m.), 7300 Macarthur Blvd, Glen Echo (Glen Echo Park)

Why Go? Take the kids to see an adaptation of the book “The Wizard of Oz,” brought to you by the award winning Puppet Co.

When/Where: July 30, 31, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., 360 Main St, Gaithersburg

Why Go? If you’ve ever envied Charlie and his Chocolate Factory, you should covet no more! Spagnvola, Maryland’s first premium chocolatier, is opening its doors to give consumers a behind the scenes look at the sweet tooth trade. And of course, this tour wouldn’t be complete without a complimentary tasting.

Why go? You can hear a wide range of colloquial music, Scottish, Irish, Quebequois, and American Folk. Donations will be accepted and the proceeds will benefit skin cancer research.

When/Where: July 31, 8 a.m. (sign-in at 7 a.m.), 1015 33rd St NW, Washington (C&O Tow Canal Path)

Why go? You couldn’t pick a more scenic route than the C&O Canal tow path for a run. And there’s no better excuse to skedaddle than to support the Back on My Feet charity and the Friendship Children’s Center.
