Even Trees Have a New Year 

This evening at 8 p.m., Silver Spring Jewish Center's will host "A Taste of Tu b'Shevat".

The Jewish New Year of the Trees will be celebrated by environmental lessons, traditional fruits of the holiday and Torah readings. Materials will be on hand for attendees to host their own Tu b'Shevat seder the following week.

The Wheaton-Kensington Chamber of Commerce thanks those who donated to their . Over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, the program brought meals to on-duty personnel in the , 2nd District in Kensington, Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad and Kensington Volunteer Fire Dept. No. 5 and 18. 

Basic Spanish at Gilchrist Center 

The will offer basic Spanish classes — no experience required — starting on Jan. 25. The fee is $25 for MoCo residents and $40 for non-residents. The eight-week course has three separate meeting times for different schedules.
