What's the Water Like in Sligo Creek?

Meeting Wednesday evening will report back on recent monitoring surveys and the overall health of the Creek.

If you've ever enjoyed a walk along Sligo Creek Trail, you've probably wondered if the water flowing by  - or after big summer storms, rushing by - was clean enough to drink.

Friends of Sligo Creek is hosting a meeting Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at to answer those questions and update residents on the overall health of the Creek that runs from just south of Arcola Avenue to south Takoma Park, and is part of a larger watershd that eventually feeds in to the Anacostia.

FOSC will host Lori Lilly from the Center from Watershed Protection, which with the help of residents and Montgomery County, monitored Sligo Creek for illegal discharges this winter. Lilly will present the findings from those months as well as give recommendations to the County on their discharge monitoring program.
