Bites Nearby: Taylor Gourmet
You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in, but we've got a better idea. Each week, Wheaton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:
Taylor Gourmet-- The sandwich makers at Taylor Gourmet are true artisans--masters of the sandwich making craft. Visit any of their five locations and you will know this is not an overstatement. They make the sandwich that you would if time weren't a factor, and you had all the ingredients of a gourmet grocery.
The turkey is roasted in house, and they wisely eschew mayo, ketchup and BBQ sauce in favor of fresh mozzarella, sharp provolone, roasted red peppers, pesto, and various gourmet cheeses, amongst other toppings.
All of their chicken sandwiches can be ordered cutlet style, or grilled, and they offer a bevy of Italian options--mixing and matching sopressata, prosciutto, and other fine meats.

The Montgomery County location is in Bethesda, where the walls double as windows, opened when the weather is pleasant, creating an airy, inviting, market-like atmosphere.
One only hopes it doesn't suffer the fate of an eatery that expands with such celerity that their product suffers as a result. Thus far, this clearly hasn't been the case.
