Bites Nearby: Urban BBQ in Rockvile

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Wheaton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice.

Although is worth the drive, Urban BBQ in Rockville serves up the same mouth-watering barbeque fare...but it is just a quick jaunt across the Wheaton/Rockville border.

The Rockville restaurant is the coziest of the "UBQ" locations with a mere handful of tables and a counter with stools. It does a brisk lunch business due to its proximity to the Pike, but is open on weekends for more leisurely lunches and takeout.

You could get a burger, but why? The barbeque sandwiches and plates are the main attraction. Barbeque favorites like pulled pork, beef brisket, sausage, pulled chicken or barbeque chicken on the bone shine. The only items that might pull your attention away from the meats are the more entertaining items such as chili with Fritos or corn dogs smothered in "Redneck Fondue."

You will receive a hunk of incredible cornbread with whatever you order, and I dare you to not gobble the whole thing. The savory collard greens are also Southernly delicious.

Wash it all down with some Texas sweet tea (half cold Lipton, half sugar) or a draft Old Dominion root beer.
