The Limerick Pub's Menu Changes Are No Joke

Summer dishes phased out, fall and winter favorites added.

Just like a good limerick always has a little twist to make it just that much funnier, - one of the hidden gems of the arts & entertainment district - puts a little twist on their menu items to make them that much more noteworthy.

From a Reuben made with savory cabbage rather than the expected sauerkraut, or an ice-cream dish based on traditional Irish brown bread, the pub’s attention to detail makes it a great destination if you like your comfort food with a side of interesting.

As of October 3, The Limerick Pub has revamped its portions of its menu to reflect the change in season. Gone is summer fare like crab cakes and spiced shrimp, but patrons can expect the heartier wintertime replacements such as lamb short ribs to temp taste buds with the same combination of the familiar and the unexpected.

The Limerick’s dedication to pleasing customers is no joke, as evidenced by a glance at the vegan (yes, vegan, not just vegetarian) options on the menu - roasted vegetable spread, tofu options for salad toppings, a “meatless” loaf and more.

“Basically, we try to do whatever we can to make the customer happy,” said general manager Scott Squire. “One of the owners is vegan, so we have four or five vegan options on the menu, but we’ll do whatever we can to accommodate most requests.”

According to Squire, everything is made fresh in-house, with only a few exceptions – the breads and desserts, which come from nearby Chicago Bakery and their chicken tenders.

More than just a place for a great lunch or dinner, the Limerick also has a full bar with a number of interesting “½ and ½” drinks—their twists on the traditional black and tan—as well as a Sunday brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a live jazz trio from .

On Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays after 7:00 p.m during football season, Limerick offers $3 beer and $5 appetizer specials. Also look for a Halloween party on October 29th and a December 31 event with a twist -- a dual-New Year’s Eve celebration both on Ireland time (at 7:00 p.m.) and then at the more traditional 12:00 a.m.
