The Wheaton Five: May 25

Five things you need to know this morning.

Good morning, Wheaton. Here's the news to start your day.

1. The weather continues its streak of will-it-thunderstorm-or-won't-it for the rest of the week, but apparently Wednesday is forecast for all sun with highs in the mid-80s. But the humidity's still high so be careful.

2. Did you know May is "Older Americans Month"? While I imagine some of those included in the definition would take umbrage with the term "senior citizen", the change in the county's demographics have shown an increasing number of that age group, as many lifelong residents are staying put in retirement. Patrick Lacefield will present  at Wheaton/Kensington Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Mixer this morning at 7:30 a.m. through 9 a.m at the Wheaton Public Library.

3. Graduation for our area high schools are coming up in two weeks. Wheaton High's speaker is James Fields a mathematics teacher at the school, while Kennedy High will be hearing from Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.  Ruschelle Reuben, principal intern at Paint Branch HS and former Northwood administrator will be speaking at Northwood's graduation.

4. Check out Wheaton Patch later today for look back this year's flu season, the continuation of our popular Time Lapse Construction feature and an update on the Wheaton/Edison modernization project, where there's more options than originally expected.
