Red Line Single Tracks on Eastern Branch

Red Line trains will single track between the NoMa-Gallaudet U and Fort Totten stations this weekend.

Metro's rigorous track work continues this weekend, with work on the Red, Orange, Green and Yellow lines beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, and continuing until closing on Sunday, Sept. 30.

Red Line trains will single track between the NoMa-Gallaudet U and Fort Totten stations "to allow for platform reconstruction, tie and fastener renewal and [city department of transportation] bridge work," according to Metro's website.

"Throughout the weekend, Red Line trains will operate every 20 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont. Between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, additional trains will operate between Shady Grove and NoMa-Gallaudet U stations, resulting in service about every 10 minutes between those stations," Metro added.

Metro advised customers traveling on the eastern branch of the Red Line to allow about 15 minutes of additional travel time, and suggested taking the Green Line between Fort Totten and Gallery Place as an alternative route.
