What You Need to Know About Metro: June 17

Single-tracking on the Red line at Takoma to Forest Glen.

This weekend, track work on the Red Line is as close to normal as normal can be for the Metro. However, Metro recently announced they'd be changing their approach to track work in order to finish the NTSB recommendations faster, so there will be more outright closures with shuttle buses filling in for the Metro in sections in the future. We'll keep you updated, but here's the schedule for this weekend.

  • Add 20 minutes of extra travel time on the Red Line. Single-tracking starts at 9:30 p.m. Friday between Grosvenor-Strathmore and Twinbrook, and at 10 p.m. between Takoma and Forest Glen. Single-tracking continues until close Sunday.
  • There will also be similar single-tracking on the Blue and Orange line trains as last weekend. From 10 p.m. Friday until close Sunday, trains are sharing one track  between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery on the Blue and Foggy Bottom and Clarendon on the Orange.
  • The Nationals will be hosting the Orioles all weekend at Nationals Park, so expect the Green line to be much busier before and after game time.
