Wheaton on the Web: Town Square

A weekly look at what people are talking about on the Web.

Each week, we look at what's going on with Wheaton all around the Web. This week: Public rights, creeks, multiple pubs and trial.

  • Just Up the Pike worries that B.F. Saul's desire to have programming rights to the town square space planned for a section of Parking Lot 13 means the site would be open to problems similar to the ones that cropped up on Ellsworth in Silver Spring.  "I find fears that redevelopment will turn Wheaton into Silver Spring complaints irritating," Dan Reed writes, "but this is one mistake from Silver Spring we shouldn't repeat."
  • The Gazette reports on the naming of the creek that runs from Forest Glen to Chevy Chase.
  • TBD reports on The Limerick Pub's opening.
  • An Indiana (?) newspaper reports two people tried for the murder of a man by ice pick in Wheaton were sentenced to 45 years by a Montgomery County jury.
  • Flickr user Jimmy takes a snap of friends enjoying a meal at Royal Mile Pub.
