GreenWheaton Hosts Alternative Lighting Forum

GreenWheaton will host a panel discussion on Street lighting at the All Eco Center in Wheaton MD.  As a follow up to last year’s Dark Sky Lighting discussion, this year’s forum will focus on the County's plans for upgrading to more energy efficient lights and Wheaton’s prospects for approving more energy efficient/dark sky friendly decorative light fixtures for its downtown business district.  The existing fixtures were approved in the 90’s and are not dark sky friendly.

This year’s panelists are Dan Sanayi, (PE) Chief, Design & Operations Division of Traffic Engineering & Operations, Montgomery County Department of Transportation along with Maryland State Delegate Alfred Carr, and Dave Taghipour, owner of All-Eco Center. They will be on hand to discuss Pepco’s agreement regarding street lighting, a new web-based tool for reporting street light outages and other Dark Sky Initiatives.

Refeshments will be served.  Admission is free!  Food donations will be collected for Mid-County United Ministries (MUM).
