Ladies’ Hike Out – Spring: Muddy Branch Trail

Springtime in Montgomery County arrives early and unobtrusively. Buds
on the spicebush swell, red-winged blackbirds appear at feeders, spring peepers
peep tentatively and only on sunny days, and gray mud sticks to our boots. As
we explore the trails around the county we’ll greet these harbingers of spring
and welcome the chance to be outside after a long winter confinement.
Directions to the trail head will be provided prior to the hike. This trail
borders the Muddy Branch Stream, Gaithersburg’s major watershed. On this back
and forth hike on natural surfaces, we’ll enjoy its wild and scenic features. FREE but please
register at ParkPASS.org.
Ages 18 & up. 301-962-1480, www.brooksidenature.org. Course
