Veirs Mill Intersection Welcomes New Stoplight

After a 20-year struggle, residents will celebrate the new stoplight's activation this Friday.

The intersection at Veirs Mill Road and Claridge Road will finally have a stoplight--a hard-won victory for residents after two decades of petitioning the Maryland State Highway Administration.

The community will celebrate the stoplight's activation at a ceremony this Friday at 3:30 p.m. Montgomery County Councilmembers Valerie Ervin, Nancy Navarro and Nancy Floreen will be in attendance, along with members of the county’s delegation to the Maryland General Assembly.

Seventy accidents have occurred at the intersection between 2003 and 2008, including three that resulted in fatalities.
